Average Poker Dealer Tips
Yes and sometimes more. The average poker dealer deals about 30 hands of poker per hour, and there is a custom among poker players to tip the dealer whenever they win a hand of poker. Some players tip $1 per hand, and some players tip more. The faster you deal and the more the players like you as a dealer, the more money you will make per hour. The dealers at the average Strip casino in Vegas make $50k-$60k. The average off-the-Strip dealers make $35k-$45k. I believe the average dealer outside of Vegas will fall somewhere in the middle, about $45k-$55k. There are also lots of different ways dealers get their tip money. Most of us know they either keep their own or pool.

You’re actually a jerk for giving that dealer a hard time. I HATE when dealers sit idly by while people break rules. Sure, you weren’t necessarily passing some crazy code along to another player, but English only IS a rule, and how is he supposed to enforce that rule more politely than to say “English only at the table, sir”? And then when you explain what it means, you’re in a way arguing with him even though the meaning of what you said literally DOES NOT MATTER, the rule is NO ENGLISH. You’re a douche.
Average Poker Dealer Salary
- Many of the poker dealers deal an average of 30 hands per hour and they can earn $1 per hand, so it is not unusual to earn as much as $30 per hour based on tips alone. This estimate depends on the fact that cash game players generally tip an amount equivalent to one small blind at low and mid-stakes when the pot won is more than 10x the big blind.
- A poker dealer can deal 20-25 hands an hour. Each hand the dealer can expect to average $1. Add that to the minimum wage they make and health benefits, retirement plan and you are at $250-$300 per night.
- So, assuming an average of $1 tip per hand, 30 hands per hour means poker dealers are making about $30 an hour in tips plus very small paychecks they are taking from the casino. In Oregon, for instance, at Chinook Winds Casino poker dealers are paid $8.80-$9.48 plus tips.
